Factory documentation for the Akai X-150D, as it's found and verified. Three slots below have arrived; the rest is still the shopping list, not the library. For what the trade press said about the machine instead, see the period press section.
Akai's own book for the X-150D — operating instructions, connection diagrams, and the factory's care procedures. Two circulating web scans of the same printing arrived together, and they complement each other: the cleaner scan carries the text pages but stops at the accessories list; the Internet Archive's scan alone carries the connecting-diagram foldout and the priced back cover. Chapter IV, the schematic the contents page promises, is missing from both — the same gap the service-manual scans had, already covered by the separately sourced schematic below.
Transcribed in full as a digital edition — every chapter both scans carry between them, the specifications and controls tables, and the accessories catalogue, with every photograph and diagram as a zoomable figure.
Alignment procedures, parts lists, and troubleshooting charts — mirrored here from two circulating web scans, neither of them paper from this bench. The first is the scan that has been online since 2008, red evaluation watermark and all; the second is a different printing (Akai document code S-EN1-960) whose scan restored a troubleshooting sheet the first one lacks. Both are missing the schematic-diagram page (chapter XII) — a gap the separately sourced schematic below now covers. An original X-150D service manual is still wanted.
Transcribed in full as a digital edition — twelve of its thirteen chapters (everything the two scans carry between them), the parts tables, and the troubleshooting charts, searchable and cross-linked.
The page both service-manual scans lack, sourced separately: a two-sheet scan of the X-150D schematic, cleaned up for legibility. Sheet one carries the four-track cross-field head assembly and the record/playback amplifier boards (CD-511, CD-512); sheet two the bias oscillator, power supply, and motor circuit, with the factory transistor list in the margin.
Both sheets are also reproduced at the scan's native resolution as the digital edition's own Schematic Diagram section, together with a site-derived component BOM cross-referenced against the manual's chapter IX parts table.
