Akai X-150D

Studio Sound

Studio Sound, February 1968

Studio Sound sent a correspondent to tour Akai's factory near Tokyo's Haneda Airport in early 1968, for a piece titled "A Visit to Akai." Most of the article covers manufacturing technique — motor balancing, life testing, batch production — but one sentence names the X-150D directly: production at the time was concentrated on the M8, the X-150D, and the X4, with the X-150D already described as a successor to the X-100D. The passage is transcribed below.
